Chasity Ervin Memphis, TN Car Accident, Death Obituary:
A heartbreaking late-night crash has left the Raleigh area grieving the loss of Chasity Ervin and holding onto hope for two critically injured infants. The devastating incident, which occurred Thursday night, has shaken the community and brought renewed attention to the dangers of impaired driving.
According to the Memphis Police Department, the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. along Stage Road near Robbiedon Street. Investigators say a Nissan Murano driven by 33-year-old Travis Johnson lost control, struck a median, and overturned, leaving behind a scene marked by destruction and urgency.
Chasity Ervin, also 33, was a passenger in the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Despite emergency response efforts, she was pronounced dead, leaving her family and loved ones to face the unimaginable pain of a life taken so suddenly. Her passing has left a deep void, as those who knew her struggle to process the loss.
Also inside the vehicle were two infants, believed to be Johnson’s children—a one-year-old and a two-month-old. Both sustained severe injuries and were transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Their fragile state has prompted an outpouring of concern and prayers from the community.
Authorities at the scene reported signs of impairment. Officers observed that Johnson had bloodshot eyes, and containers of Colt 45 beer were found both inside and outside the vehicle. Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
Johnson was taken to a hospital for treatment before being taken into custody. He now faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, reckless driving, public intoxication, and two counts of reckless endangerment. He was later booked into the Shelby County Jail.
As the investigation continues, the Memphis community mourns the loss of Chasity Ervin while hoping for the recovery of the two young children. The tragedy stands as a painful reminder of the consequences of impaired driving and the lives it can forever change.
